The Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce was founded by a group of family caregivers and incorporated in 1986. It is a non-profit corporation and a registered charity, governed by a board of directors who are elected at the Annual General Meeting held in the spring of each year.   The Society is supported by individual and community service sector donations, special events fundraising and also receives funding from the Ministry of Health Southwest Local Health Integrated Network.

The Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce is affiliated with the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and the Alzheimer Society of Canada. As a local Chapter, one of 39 in Ontario, we provide “Help for Today and Hope for Tomorrow” to persons with Alzheimer'sdisease and related disorders and their caregivers in Grey and Bruce counties. The Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce serves residents of both Grey and Bruce counties, with an office located in the largest centre, Owen Sound. These two counties cover a vast geographical area of 3,400 square miles, with a population of 150,000 people.

How we can help -- support services

The Alzheimer Society provides information, education and support through individual counselling and support groups that provide a safe place to share information, thoughts, feelings and experiences. We help people find programs and services they need, such as day and respite programs, home support and help with the difficult transition to long-term care.
